A romance high school anime that begins in the Astronomy Club, featuring Nagisa-senpai, Airi, Kenny, Sou, and Kaori. Sou and Kaori have lived together since childhood with Kaori’s mother. Kaori loves Sou but can’t bring herself to confess. As the story progresses, she finally admits her feelings—but that’s when tragedy strikes, setting the true plot of the anime in motion. An unknown girl named Yui is found naked and unconscious from anemia on the fifth floor of Uchihama Academy. Who is she, and why was she in that condition? The answers unfold later in the series.
Like many school-setting anime, this one brings back the charm of high school life—the clubs, festivals, and simple moments that make you nostalgic. Watching it reminded me of my early experiences with school dramas, and when it ended, I felt a strange emptiness. There’s only one season and one special episode about summer vacation, making a total of 13 episodes—you can easily finish it in a day. I highly recommend it if you enjoy school dramas, club activities, or slice-of-life stories with a touch of sci-fi. It even includes scientific terms from quantum physics and Turing machines, which science fans will appreciate.
It felt ahead of its time—especially now, when AI and technology dominate our lives. I never imagined that a 2014 Fall anime would mention things that resemble today’s AI concepts, like ChatGPT and other tech phenomena. I also loved the idea of the planetarium. In today’s city life, where light pollution hides the stars, people have almost forgotten what real starlight looks like. I’d love to see someone build a startup that helps people experience the night sky again.
The ending made me sad. It left me thinking about how we form emotional connections—with AI, our homes, cars, even the games we play. They all become a part of us, quietly shaping who we are.
